Having just finished writing a poem based on The Song of Solomon (a beautiful new marriage), I am now turning his creative attentions to the Biblical book of Hosea. Hosea, whose name means ‘salvation’ in Hebrew, explores how the beautiful marriage between God and Israel had soured due to the unfaithfulness of Israel’s northern kingdom. Within its pages, Hosea so profoundly conveys the breathtaking love of God as it also clashes with His holiness. What is God to do with His backsliding bride? How tortuous is it for God to love His wayward bride in her rebelliousness?! Hosea has a lot of personal significance for me, so I am looking forward to writing it all down as a contemporary English poem to bless God’s people.
God bless, Nahum.
